PTC Activities and Events
Book Fair
In the spring, there is a large, week long Book Fair. The sale runs during school hours as well as the night of Open House. Proceeds of this sale go directly to the LMC for new books.
Box Tops For Education / Campbell's Soup Labels
Box Tops For Education: A program that earns cash for the school by collecting General Mills product box tops. Collecting Campbell's soup product labels to be turned in for cash/prizes for the school.
Bulldog Bulletin
Our school newsletter filled with information to keep you updated on school and PTC activities and your key to staying informed! The Bulldog is sent home almost every Friday that school is in session. Articles can be submitted to newsletter@bgptc.org as a word document attachment. The deadline for submissions each week is noon on Tuesday for the Friday edition.
Bulldog 3K Run/Walk
In May, students, families, and friends gather to participate in the 3K. All speeds welcome.
Candy Cane Lane
A "getting ready for the holidays" event featuring a special shopping event for Briar Glen children. In addition, there are refreshments and a bake sale.
Cultural Programs
From animals and authors to singers and storytellers and many presentations in between; cultural programs are generally all school assemblies and are held 4-8 times a year. Funding for these programs comes exclusively from the PTC.
Field Day
An afternoon of outdoor track and field type games for grades K-5 near the end of the school year.
Fifth Grade End-of-Year Celebration (Fling)
A celebration in the spring to acknowledge our students who will be moving on to Glen Crest Middle School next year.
Gift Wrap Sale
This fundraiser is the primary source of PTC general operating funds. Strong sales = healthy PTC budget. Proceeds from this sale fund continuing expenses such as Cultural Programs and Outdoor Education. They have also been accrued to fund special projects like Playground improvements and Technology upgrades.
Gift Cards
The selling of gift cards. Great Lakes Scrip sells the cards to the PTC for less than face value, they are purchased at face value, and the PTC gets the difference. Click here for the gift card order form.
Giving Tree
A heart-warming program that provides holiday gifts to those in need in our school's community. Ornaments with requests for items or gift certificates are hung on a tree in the lobby of the school beginning in November. Briar Glen families sign up to provide the suggested gift anonymously to a child or family.
Great America Ticket Program
Students have the option to earn a free ticket to the theme park by completing a designated number of reading minutes in a specified time frame.
Hot Lunch Days
An opportunity for 1st through 5th grade students to enjoy something different for lunch (beverages are not included). An order form, with lunch details, including food selection and amount due, and payment are returned a few weeks prior to hot lunch. No extra lunches are available on Hot Lunch day.
Learning Express Weekend
During a specified week of the year Briar Glen families shopping at Learning Express in Glen Ellyn get 10% their entire purchase AND Learning Express will donate 10% of the sale to the PTC.
Market Day
A monthly fundraising food co-op offering convenience, quality and competitive prices. Order forms are sent home each month and extras are available in the office. You can also order online at www.marketday.com Briar Glen school code: 1123.
Memory Book
Briar Glen's very own yearbook filled with school and candid photos taken at activities throughout the year. Orders are taken in the fall and the books are published late spring. Photo submissions may be sent to the office marked "Memory Book" or emailed to: photos@bgptc.org
Movie Night
A Friday evening for Briar Glen students (only) to go to the gym and watch a movie with friends. Water and popcorn are included in the "ticket" price. Candy is also available for sale. Movie nights are typically in November and March.
Pizza Kits
A variety of kits are offered for busy families to make a fast, great tasting dinner together. Typically times to coincide with spring sports.
Room Coordinators
Parent volunteers that assist coordinating volunteers, parties and activites for individual classrooms as requested by the classroom teachers. There are three classroom parties each year; Halloween, Winter, and Valentines. The room coordinator committee assembles parent volunteer teams by classroom to run each party. The volunteer teams are responsible for coordinating the parties with their classroom teacher.
School Directory
A school telephone/address directory for the sole use of students and their families. The directory is published in October.
School Pictures
Assist the photographer in taking Fall and Spring student pictures.
Scouts
The PTC is open to sponsoring the Girl Scouts program, providing them with opportunities for service as well as a place to meet. The PTC is the chartering organization for our Cub Scout Pack.
Spiritwear
Clothing and other promotional items with our school name and colors to promote school spirit are available for order in September.
Staff Appreciation
A week at the beginning of May to express student and parent appreciation of the Briar Glen Staff. Small tokens of appreciation are given to show the staff how much we appreciate all they do for our kids.
Used School Supplies
At the end of the school year, old school supplies are collected and donated to charities.
Vision, Hearing & Dental Screenings
The District runs the screenings each year. Parent volunteers help organize the children to make the process as efficient as possible.
Volunteer Appreciation
A night in January set aside to thank those who go that extra mile and volunteer for a PTC activity.
Welcome Back Ice Cream Social
An event where Briar Glen families old and new can get to know each other and make new connections.
Welcome Committee
Welcomes new families to Briar Glen by inviting them to a welcome orientation and tour just before school starts in the fall.
